The city is known for the special pearls made there but also for its furniture industry. At the same time, Manacor is not an industrial city but has maintained its typical Mallorcan flair. As a visitor to the city, it is worth the trip to the historic downtown with its narrow streets and many small shops. The Son Pereto church and the monastery Sant Vicenc Ferrer, built in 1576, are other impressive monuments. Moreover, the excavated settlement of Hospitalet Vell is worth seeing.
